PRIVACY POLICY

The short version: Lubber Line collects no personal data. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, no cookies. Your position is processed on your device and never leaves it.

1. Who we are

Lubber Line ("the app") is a marine compass application for iOS, published by Idar Douglas Hillgaar, Ireland. For any privacy question, contact crews-twelves.4d@icloud.com.

2. Data processed on your device (never transmitted)

To work as a compass, the app processes the following on your device, entirely locally:

Precise location (GPS) — used solely to display your coordinates, correct the compass to true north (magnetic declination via the World Magnetic Model), and compute speed over ground in knots.
Motion and heading sensors (magnetometer, gyroscope, accelerometer) — used for compass heading and for detecting when the device is physically still (so speed reads an honest 0.0 kn).

This information is never transmitted, uploaded, shared, sold, or stored off your device. Location is used live, on-device only; it is not recorded.

3. What stays on your device

The app stores only your settings locally on your device — for example a course you have locked with the anchor button — so they are remembered between launches. This data never leaves your device and is permanently removed when you delete the app.

4. What we do not do

No collection of personal data
No transmission of any data off your device
No sharing or selling of data to third parties
No analytics, crash-reporting identifiers, or usage tracking
No advertising or advertising identifiers
No cookies or similar tracking technologies
No accounts or sign-in of any kind

5. Data retention

Because nothing leaves your device, there is nothing for us to retain, access, or delete on our side. Locally stored settings (such as a locked course) can be removed at any time by deleting the app.

6. Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR and similar laws you have rights over your personal data (access, rectification, erasure, and more). Since Lubber Line holds no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to act on — but if you have any question or concern, we are happy to answer: crews-twelves.4d@icloud.com.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at privacy.lubberline.net with a new effective date.
